Italy Serie A side Genoa has announced that 14 of their staff members tested positive for COVID-19 after been hammered 6;O by Napoli featuring Nigerians Victor Osimhen
Genoa said in a statement that after Monday’s tests, the number of positive COVID-19 team and staff members has risen to fourteen.
Reports suggest between 8-10 cases are members of the playing squad though only goalkeeper Mattia Perin and midfielder Lasse Schone have so far been named.
According to Sportitalia, the latest round of swabs followed Sunday’s 6-0 defeat to Napoli.
The club said in a statement..
“Genoa CFC announce that after today’s tests, the number of COVID-19 positive employees has risen to 14 team members and staff,” the club confirmed on their.
“The club has activated all the procedures according to the protocol and informed the authorities. The club will provide updates as the situation evolves.”
Genoa’s game against Torino next weekend is in serious doubt as could be Napoli’s high-profile fixture against Juventus since all the Napoli players and staff members will also need to undergo testing.
