Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has confirmed that he will leave the club for the second time this summer when his contract expires.
The 43-year-old previously left Juve in 2018 to join Paris Saint Germain .This departure will be different and could lead to the retirement of one of football’s greatest goalkeepers.
Buffon has been limited to just seven Serie A appearances this season, keeping three clean sheets. His replacement after his previous departure, Wojciech Szczesny, resumed his role as the first-choice goalkeeper at the club after Buffon’s return in 2019.
Speaking to Bein Sports, Buffon confirmed the news, saying: “My future is clear and defined. This beautiful and very long experience with Juve will come to a definitive end this year. Either I stop playing, or if I find a situation that motivates me to play or have a different life experience, I will take it into consideration.
“I feel I gave everything for Juve. I have received everything and more than this cannot be done. We have reached the end of a cycle and it’s right for one to remove the disturbance.”
