Scotland star Billy Gilmour will miss his side’s clash with Croatia after testing positive for Covid-19.

A Scotland statement read: “The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland National Team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for COVID-19.

“Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.”

The Chelsea midfielder was named man of the match after his performance in his side’s goalless draw with England last Friday night, earning rave reviews for his display in the centre of midfield.

He was set to start again for Steve Clarke’s side against the Croatians at Hampden Park on Tuesday, with the Scots needing a win to qualify for the last-16.

Gilmour’s absence will come as a huge blow to the hosts, who are playing in their first major tournament for 23 years.
