Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba starred as Manchester thrashed rivals Leeds in their 2021/22 Premier League opener.
The midfield pair were in utterly irresistible form as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side put down an emphatic early-season marker at Old Trafford, with Fernandes netting a stylish 60-minute hat-trick and Pogba registering no fewer than four assists in a simply sublime display.
Fernandes is the first Manchester United player since Andy Ritchie in 1979 to score a treble against old foes Leeds, while Pogba is the first man in club history – and only the seventh player ever – to lay on four goals in a single Premier League fixture.
Lou Macari was the last United player to bag a hat-trick on the opening day of the season, against Birmingham in 1977, per Opta Sports.
