Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that left-back Alphonso Davies is set for a spell on the sidelines after he was diagnosed with a slight heart inflammation.
Davies missed his side’s first game in 2022 – a 2-1 defeat to Gladbach – because of Covid-19, but he has since tested negative and was scheduled to return to training after a routine check-up from the Bayern medical officials.
Unfortunately, during those exams, an irregularity with Davies’ heart was discovered and he will now be kept away from football while he undergoes treatment.
“Yesterday, during our follow-up examination that we do with every player that has had Covid-19, we detected signs of mild myocarditis, i.e. an inflammation of the heart muscle,” Nagelsmann said.
“He has stopped training for now, so he won’t be available to us for the next weeks.
