Cristiano Ronaldo has informed his teammates that wishes to remain at Manchester United if Erik ten Hag wants him.
The attacker, 37, has a final year of his contract remaining at Old Trafford and he has ambitions of remaining there even though the northwest side failed to secure a top-four this season. It has previously been thought that the star would ask for a move if the side failed to obtain a spot in the Champions League
But a source has told The Sun that the Portugal international is now wishing to stay and help the cause under the incoming manager.
The insider revealed: “Ronaldo told the players he’s not going anywhere unless the club says they don’t want him. No one is more disappointed than him about how the season has panned out.
“But he doesn’t want to leave on a low and wants to help get the club back into the Champions League and try and win a trophy next year.
“However, he has told them if the new boss wants to go in a different direction, then he will have no hard feelings and has no regrets about coming back to Old Trafford.”
Ronaldo is the club’s top scorer this campaign, having netted 18 goals in 29 Premier League games this season. But some have raised concerns that his appearances come at the expense of interim manager Ralf Rangnick ’s system.
